The 123 was notorious for bad window seals. 123s have the old school H-shaped gasket that catches the edge of the glass on the inside and a metal lip on the outside. If the gasket fails, the metal lip gets eaten by rust and you get a nasty leak.

On newer cars the window is glued in with urethane adhesive.

Also check the antenna gasket, those are prone to leak and are easily replaced. But usually you only get water on the antenna side when that happens.

In addition to leaking rear window gasket and antenna gasket, the tail light gaskets often develop leaks, and the trunk seal itself can leak. One of my cars had leaks from all four places at once.

This happened to me and it was the trunk seal -- it didn't look bad enough to be a problem but no more water in the trunk after I replaced the seal.

My car was leaking by the upper side molding that runs down the car about waist high.
And the antenna gasket.

It takes at least two people and the metal trim is a bit of a pain.

I wouldn't replace the trunk seal yet....start with the rear windshield seal....Also see if your trunk seal has came unglues or separated from the body...I found one of my corners lifted and a dime rust hole under it...
