Yeah, have a safe trip, and don`t worry, the CD will hold up for the journey.

Find out where all the Fourm members live, and if the CD poops out, drop off yours, use theirs and continue on. on the return give them theirs back and they should have yours up and running. give them something to do in their spare time.

Ive taken on occasion 200 to 300 mile trips with only 1 issue, cv axles ,the units do not like high speeds if their old ,do your best to keep it under 75 mph and dont accelerate heavy on grades, just my experience. If it turns out you need to borrow my 300cd ,it has 450k and will still get you their.

I have a 81cd and a euro trailer hitch/ harness that you can bolt to yours and pull home with a harbour freight tow bar for $1800.00 so come thru DFW on the way.

Ok this is day ONE from Palm Springs to Phoenix... It will be 100 degrees by noon which is when I hope to be getting into Phoenix... Had some issues on Friday with the belt on the power steering... But for now the belt is on and looks like it will be staying on ... Mileage is at (175,713)... I will be setting the trip meter to zero when I fill it up on the way out of town...

Your picture brings back memories of Palm Springs. Looks like the wind is blowing pretty good by the Palm Trees.

I was in Palm Springs one time for a meeting. what a hot Hell-Hole of a place, like being on the Moon with a few Palm trees thrown in for good measure.

100deg is on a cool day for Palm Springs and Phoenix. At least you are traveling through in the cool time of the year. I was in Phoenix in July one time and it was 115deg. That is still cool compared to Mojave, Ca. was 121deg at 5pm. But at least these places have a DRY heat.

If you are having problems with the Power Steering Belt, remember, it runs close to the upper Oil Cooler line.

Be sure to have the cooler filled with frozen water to start with, and drink plenty of water and lay off the Sodas.

Have a safe fun trip.

Yep I have the cup holders...

I was able to locate as set of 4 cup holders (the kind that hang on the door) at the WalMart for $2... I out the coffee on my side with the frozen water on the passenger side... By the time I finished the coffee, the water was there for me...

I have lived in Palm Springs since 1996... So yea, I am used to tolerating the 80 degree January days and like most are anxious all winter to start *****ing about the heat in the summer... lol... But I knew I would be driving from 8AM to 12 Noon... It was just hitting 100 degrees when I was hitting the pool here in Phoenix... I am still hoping to find a "welcome to Phoenix" sign, but my friends say that is a PS thing... lol... Ohh well I made it here without a hitch... Tomorrow it is on to Flafstaff and then Albuquerque !!...

You should have just braved it and took HWY 62 north from palm Springs all the way to parker AZ -wickemburg-prescott, if traveling to flagstaff, you could -anyone could do without Phonix and its road construction and all other BS. The only thing manmade between 29 palms and Parker is Pattons RR downloading ramps at Rice where he trained troops for N Africa.

Panzzer-you're really trying to unload that thing aren't you? Want to give it to me as a wedding present?

Kevtod-glad to hear it's running smooth for you

Check flex disks before you go. That was one of my more adventerous side of the road fixes, flex disk went in the far left lane of a 16lane interstate in stop and go traffic. I only had flip flops on.... 2 hrs to R&R including waiting for SWMBO.

Made it to Amarillo...

Well, after pit stop over-nighters in Phoenix and Albuquerque I have arrived at the Motel 6 in Amarillo Texas... Which puts me at just over 1000 miles into my 2600 mile journey... Sorry to report that it looks like I am only getting about 24 MPG... So while that is a lot better than the 12 MPG of my Jeep Grand Cherokee, it is def NOT the 30 MPG I was hoping for... I am happy to say that the Old Grey Mare is somewhat like she used to be... Glides along smoothly at 75 MPH and except for a new habit of spewing a few puffs of smoke she has only asked for 2 quarts of oil for her efforts...
