Hardware

What are the common sizes of lock washers? Any sizes that one should have on hand?

I found the best thing to do is to buy a metric coarse assortment set - you pay a bit more per washer nut and bolt but you quickly work out what needs to be restocked, and on the odd occasions when you need that really little one that never gets used you'll be glad you paid that little bit more because it has just saved you more time and money going to buy them.

Buy a set that is rated with a 8.8 strength

This is the land of little metric... So, I have looked and only find a handful of one size of lock and crush washers. Got plenty of bolts and nuts... The oil filter for instance didn't come with a new crush washer. Would be nice to know what size and have a few on hand. If you have a set of crush washers in mind, please share! Some day, might have to order from Europe. For example, I thought I got a decent metric drill bit set, however, soon went dull.

I've only really got European based information on where to buy stuff - but I hear great things about Eastwood (have done so for years). They don't strike me as being especially cheap - but the cost of their stuff sold over here by other companies usually comes in at a competitive price.

Have a look and see what you think

Lowes has metric hardware -- you might want to look there.

Thank you so much! However, that is for bolts and nuts, not crushwashers! Apparently I wasn't clear I am looking for a set of metric crush washers.

Eastwood doesn't have crush washers. Like I thought, no one on this site knows what size any of the crush washers are! I guess you all are happy with leaks, even minor? Guess I will have to either unbolt all the ones with crush washers and measure. If it wasn't so humid and warm I find a W123 in a yard and do that. Or, could get a set from Europe, but then price for the set probably be astronomical...

America is sure a messed up place! They like their imports, however, metric tools and hardware are slim pickings to null!

Did a search, and no metric crush washer sets... Thank you so very much for trying!

The site here has what you need, but a bit difficult to locate an assortment, just the particular one you're looking for.

What do you need "crush washers" for. Beside the injectors, why do you need them. Every hardware or big box store I go to has about every metric nut and bolt and washer on hand, ready for you to take home. They are all the same, so don't say you can't buy metric hdwe in Phoenix.

Sorry I must be speed reading threads again

I think Grainger are American right?

Sealing Washer Flat Washer - Washers - Fasteners - Grainger Industrial Supply

Is there anything there that floats your boat?

I'm sorry I can't get an exact size for the drain plug for you - I'll keep on looking - but to be honest all I ever do is dig out a new one from the assortment box if I need one...

Pelican has the transmission drain plug sizes here

1981 Mercedes-Benz 300D Sedan - Filters & Belts - Page 2

May be an email to them will yield either the size or a solution for you?

Because of the mess Peach did to others, they have lost my business... A contract is a contract and becoming a monopoly.

What I want is several in the common sizes, so I can just grab it and be done. I hate going on an errand for a single item!

I wanted a set of common sizes, but Too Many sent me something that basically shows that everything is 10mm! So, here I am thinking Mercedes would have used two or three sizes like the Swedes, but the Germans are more logical than that! So, just will get a handful of 10mm crush washers.

Thank you all so very much for the generous help!

Yep, sure did! So, it is 10mm and 12mm crush washers that are common.

For more hardware than you can ever use, try Fastenal. They are nearly everywhere and if not, Home | Fastenal

They have all sorts of metric hardware ....... hex-drive, nuts, lock-nuts, washers, lock-washers, crush-washers, etc...

Thank you so very much!

Looks similar to McMaster Carr, but geared more to the individual than industry?

^ Industry first, yet their stores are popping up. I've gone there for items and came back empty, can't remember what exactly. Don't know if they carry crush washers.
