I found a local indy who had bought a bunch of NOS parts and my heart leaped when he told me he had it for $75 based on the pic I sent to him.
But it was ever so slightly different. the rod from the firewall bushing connects via a slot on mine, and his had a hoop. Also the rear plate was slightly smaller.

So, the best price I have found now is $234. Gonna have to take the plunge b/c right now it is just JB-welded together, and I figure that won't last.

Wife will not be happy if she finds herself driving at WOT around town!

She won`t be at WOT, she will be Idling around town.

@andrewjtx - PM sent!
@ charmalu - no, actually WOT! When the part fails, the weight of the linkage on the front side that attaches to the IP pushes the IP lever to fully open!

Side note, recently I didn't clip the rod from the firewall bushing in quite right, and the rod slipped out of the part that later broke (no connection, I think), simulating the problem I had in the road trip. The result was WOT around town - she was pulling into my daughter's preschool at the time, and went skidding around the corner with the motor racing. She said people looked at her like she was a crazy bat out of h*ll mom trying to get her kid to school. She killed the engine and called me for help. When I had the same problem on the road (no throttle action, engine at WOT), that is what I thought had happened again. Figured it was an easy fix....very different story though with the rubber breaking in half.

No wonder they only used this style for one year.....by chance, have you called the dealer and asked if there was a recall on it? If there was, maybe you might get it fixed for free.....sounds like the Toyota gas peddle problem....

well, I went to the parts dept at the dealer and he quoted me $350. No mention of a recall, but I didn't ask. Seems like a problem that is only cropping up after 30+ years
