W124 ashtray delete

Hi, I am new to this forum. Been the happy owner of a 87 300TD since 2010.

Recently I've been experimenting with deleting the ashtray and replacing with gauges, 12V plug and aux in. I have been using 3/8 inch thick plastic and once I am happy with the layout will use zebra wood.

Here is a picture of my layout.

Nice! Very nice. Ever since I got my Buick and noticed the battery voltage gauge, I've wanted one in every car I have (hypermiler = coasts with engine off, making it harder to fully charge the battery). Think you could change that VDO to bar? If you'll notice, I think the oil pressure gauge is in bar.

Talk to Jeremy - How are your gauges mounted..???

Yes, I bought this car, but it's long gone and I don't remember anything about how the gauges were installed. With due respect to Jeremy, and I have a tremendous amount of respect for Jeremy, the gauges weren't very useful so far from my line of sight. If you don't mind cutting the panel with the shifter, angle the gauge holder so it's easier to read the tops of the gauges from the driver seat.
