We get between 18 and 24 but our vans are stop and go, in town transit vans.
Wow! "24 mpg" would have to be a fluke-fill for a stop-n-go van like that. "18" or so seems a lot more plausible.
No, no fluke. It depends on the route, the number of stops, the amount of time idling, driver, etc. These vans aren't all that heavy as configured and even with a full count of passengers they're nowhere near the weight of a van full of cargo. The individual trip numbers favor the bottom of the scale though.

OT, but is it breaking just inside the front seal? We used to get that quite a bit on the 99-02 vans. That's usually from excess load on the pump vanes. The fluid was just too viscous and when the load was high the shaft would shear. We'd been using an additive in the fluid for years but after discontinuing and making a regular practice of flushing, most of the failures have stopped. If temps allow, thinning with MMO might help.

OK, I looked over the van... interesting that the front rotors are the same size as my 87TD... calipers are larger, but not by a lot.
LUGS are MASSIVE.

the leak is from the top plate of the front pump, just above the water pump. likely it got tweaked when the moron changed the pump. (and they COVERED the water pump with RED RTV instead of using a proper gasket... I may just tear the entire front of the motor down, and clean it and install everything properly.
anyway, is there a gasket or o-ring in there?

Thanks...

but seriously, does anybody know what size the oring under the fuel pump top plate is?
or what it's made of?
I understand, I have to remove the pump from the head to access the o-ring, but a heads up on construction and size would be AWESOME!!!
