I ordered a new hood pad for my 300D (from Partsshop of course), and need of a glue/adhesive to put it on, what do you recommend?? Also I need some glue to re-attach my door/body strip moulding? Thanks

I am in the same boat regarding installing a new hood pad, so I asked my local independent mercedes shop what they use. They told me that three cartridges of Liquid Nails should do the trick. After applying the adhesive to the pad, put the pad in place with the hood in the full vertical position and move the pad around a bit to help spread the adhesive around.

Disclaimer! I haven't done this yet myself. I'm still waiting for a dry, warm, non-windy day.

The shop also uses Liquid Nails on the wood trim interior pieces. They used it to reapply a badly warped piece of wood trim on my dash, and it's held up well for the last three months.

Good luck.

3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive in the spray can is what's recommended to glue the hood pad to the hood. Spraying will get the even coverage you want and you have some time after spraying it on to apply the pad and move it around so its positioned correctly. 3M weatherstrip adhesive in the tube for the body molding. 3M has a very good rep for both applications. This is not to say liquid nails will not do the job just as well or perhaps better - I've never used liquid nails for this application. I do know that 3M will do the job.

Gluing the hood pad has been discussed before. Use the search feature to find the threads.

Good Luck!

I want to second what Tom said... that Super Trim Adhesive in the spray can ( 8088 ? ) is great... the nozzle is adjustable... and it is a contact cement.. it is great for the hood pads, and carpet... read the instructions... let it tack before putting it together like any contact cement... and take care to provide great ventilation.... when you go to body shops this is the stuff you see... you can get it cheaper if you go to an Auto Paints store.... rather than your local parts shop... less people in the food chain ....
