Talking Possibly my first MB purchase....FINALLY!!!

After endless searching and mucho frustration with cars described as excellent by their owners over the phone (shee-ya, right!), I think I've finally stumbled onto 'the one'.

It's an '84 300SD with 168K mi.
Anthracite/grey
Original owner until a few thousand mi. ago...now owned by the Euro service center owner who has serviced it since 1984!! (Shop owner bought the customer's car).

Non smoker car. Always serviced as scheduled with FULL records and history back to '84. PO always kept the car detailed by a prof. detailer.

EVERYTHING works...forgot to test the cruise control on the test drive tho.

Interior and exterior are in what I would describe as HONESTLY 'Very Good' condition....boderline 'Excellent'.

Leather in front has NO cracks or holes...almost PERFECT. The rear seat looks like it's never even been sat in!

Just need to get the car into a shop next week for a PPI before handing over a check to the owner.

Well...sorry to bore y'all with a newbie first time MB purchase but I'm SO excited about the car, I had to tell someone, anyone!

I've been told that I have a very nice, albeit well used, 1984 300SD (anthracite/grey), but yours makes mine look like a donor car. Double check the A/C (easy to forget at this time of year). There are way better ways to spend a weekend than to remove the dash to replace a $30 A/C vacuum actuator (I DID do them all while there ) CC amp can be a problem on these cars, but not too difficult a fix (solder or GDL rebuild). That car looks like a BEAUT!

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I'm just hoping the PPI confirms my excitement!

jba: The A/C is one of the things I'll stress to the tech doing the PPI to make doubly sure it's in good working order.
But, what's a CC amp?

Looks like a great car, aside from the chrome fender trim and chrome 15" flat wheels. I like things as original as possible

Update:

Just got off the phone with the MB tech that did the PPI.

The car has been hit....bad.
Frame damage...rust on the damaged frame...alignment issues (of course).

Tech said to RUN away...very fast.

On the flip side, the tech has a dealer's car at the lot that says is VERY nice...needs a few things first tho.
It's an '84 or '85 300D-Turbo - Teal/Palamino. 109K mi. (says that's the REAL mileage).

Going to look at it tonight.
