So, this is what I have to look forward to? Lovely! Luckily my fiance has her own car and I keep an arms length away when it has problems. I can do basic stuff on it but I'm no where near as good with newer Mazdas as I am the W126, so I keep a certain distance.

I had similar damage done to my 03 Nissan when backing out of my driveway after a large snow storm. We had 4 ft high snow piles by the driveway and the plows made a nice embankment at the end of the drive; that turned to ice. Backing out, the front of the car went over the ice embankment (maybe 8" high) and the plastic front bumper cover caught and torn on the ice. Similar to the OP's damage.

Hmm

The roads up here are littered this winter with plastic front and rear bumper fascia.

Hey if she's a good wife don't complain too much.

Letting her get her own car is not a bad idea either. She might be more careful knowing she owns it all.

No such issues with my wife. And she drives a diesel 6-speed manual as her daily driver currently. She has never damaged any car beyond bumping a post long ago in her old buick, minor scuff on bumper. Has never damaged a MB or the VW.

One of my few good friends

lives in upstate New York. His wife came home from shopping and told him the passenger side outside mirror just "spontaneously exploded" while she was driving along normally. Acura. I told him he should check for recalls before condemning her.

My wife was driving the 560SL (with me dozing in the passenger seat) when she became the receiver of a T-Bone at an intersection. "He came out of nowhere". Luckily no injuries to anyone although I would have been secretly pleased for her to have had a broken finger or something equally minor for punishment value.

Definitely ran something over!

Just to brag...my wifey reports in any odd noises/ vibrations/ behavior/ gauge reading. She's crazy about changing the oil at 3k, and was the one who discovered both the transmission cooler leak and the cracked head. "It keeps eating coolant and I can't figure it out arhggggg" Probably helps that the Jeep has like 6" of ground clearance.....

On the plus side my wife's rack has gotten me many free car repairs and discounts and such. She is a pretty good driver except that one time when me and some of my buddies were pushing her out of a snowdrift and she ran two of them over

^^^THIS
She's a good girl, my vehicles have had some bad luck with her though
I have to take the car to the shop to get an estimate and cough up the deductible and call it a day. I'll take advantage of the situation to see if I can get the car buffed.
Hopefully she'll be more careful from here on.

Alas she is extremely camera shy. Suffice it to say I basically got a free muffler repair on the Mazda Protege I was driving before I got the benz
