rebuilt tranny from Adsitco?

These guys seem to have a bad reputaion on this site for sending the wrong parts or crappy used parts. Has any one got a rebuilt tranny from them? I'm waiting for a shipping quote from Sunvalley. The rebuilds are about the same price but I am sure the shipping will be much more then the $300 round trip quote from Adsitco.

But, I have a good used 722 out of an SDL if this is for your W126...

I don't think that there will be all that much difference in the shipping. But I know that from what I have read here on the Forum, never in my life would I buy something like a automatic trans from Adsitco. And they are almost in the next town from where I live. My advice is, go Sun Valley.

Put it this way: Adsitco states in their purchase agreement (which their terms dictate you have agreed to by purchasing from them) that they will not pay the return shipping on the wrong item where it is their fault. This has been well documented. It may well be on their website, if you look hard enough.

Nor will your bank allow you a chargeback on your credit card, in such an event, because Adsit can show them that clause in the sales agreement.

Do you still want to buy something as awkward and expensive to ship as a transmission from that company? Even the best of vendors makes a mistake now and again. The company in question is very, very far from the best.

Your call .

I think Sun Valley quoted me $250 for shipping on a trans. I haven't bought anything from them. I was just doing research. They said they would pay for return shipping on the core. Always heard good things about them.

Can't say the same about Adsitco.

I had my transmission done by Transpecialties, a big NJ shop that does a lot of Mercedes work. I couldn't be more pleased. While I was able to drive it in for an R&R, they also supply rebuilts. Give them a try, they may have an exchange unit for you:

That is the first I have heard of them. I need to give them a call and see what they would charge to rebuild a 4 speed I am going to get for my 240D since they are within driving distance. I would love to use Sun Valley but shipping seems too expensive.

I noticed several years ago that there where some really decent larger transmission re builders in New Jersey. They have good reputatiions but one should still check before commiting. I think they dyno test every rebuilt they do. They did a lot of Mercedes automatic transmissions as well. About two grand if I remember at the time.

The four speed manual transmission unless it has an obvious problem is so tough that I would not bother to freshen one up. Unless it has a zillion miles on it or syncro issues. Mercedes put that transmission behind their largest car gas engines. They seldom work hard if at all behind the diesels.

One of their guys signed up here a few weeks ago and pretended to be an enthusiast giving reviews on the place . I'd say that's about all I need to know, along with their return policy.

Nope, he hasn't been banned. Just dormant since his 8 posts which raved about Adsitco.
