And I killed it trying to start it a few times. This is the 6th time it's died. :D

The glow plugs have a defrost switch since that is a momentary switch. I do need to wire it to the buzzer.

So I have no idea what is draining the battery while it sits for a week and half.

The parts store tested it after they charged it on theirs machine and after a load test and etc it's fine according to them.

We shall see? If anything it has a two year warranty and I'll get it replaced. Hopefully the alternator belt doesn't break again. I put it on and the belt has about 1/4-3/8" deflection in either direction. Napa only has a 12x1000 but it's close enough.

Re: Battery drain - Does your sound system have an aftermarket amp?

TheDon 12-23-2014 10:21 PM

Nope. It's an aftermarket blaupunkt head unit.

Only modification to the wiring in the car is that I tapped into the always hot 12v for the hazard switch that is giving 12v to the modified gloss plug relay when I press the switch.

Driving the 240 everyday day managed 26 MPG on the first tank. I need to drive it like a 240D, not a MINI cooper S! I'm supposed to get like 40 MPG according to craigslist sellers.

Need to finish up the paint, I'm doing it by hand for now and I'll get a machine at some point to properly clean it up. But it looks a million times better. I'll get some pictures once I finish the paint.

Got my new rear seat back in. I installed it just so I have a seat but I need to sew some fabric onto the old vinyl and swap it out. I need to get one front seat back in green horsehair and then I'll rebuild that side and then all seats will be rebuilt!

I should start working on the AC soon, I was going to keep the York because I wanted to go all survivor concourse buuuuuut. Forget that. I need to see roll guy about a sanden bracket and hoses for my car so I can run 134A. And not nuke a York compressor.

Also need to rebuild the suspension the rear end sags so I think a 100%, complete! suspension rebuild will be in order. I need a second job!

Found a 240 in a junkyard that I'll nab the front spindles from. Spare spindles are nice when rebuilding a suspension. And since I have 2 w123's they will come in handy. Said 240 also has the light weight wheels so hopefully they are still there Saturday so I can nab them.

Good to hear there's gonna be lots of nabbing going on

Great to hear you have the 240 on the road again! And I don't remember if I confirmed receipt of the rim, but I got it!
I finally sold the last of the Benzes I had. The 300SD sold to a guy in Atlanta. He drove it home! Cruise control evened worked. I probably should have kept that one. :(
Anyway, continued success on Uttini!
I have decided not to use the aluminum rims on my Westy. (I know, after you shipped that one back to me!) I really don't know what to ask for them, but the tires for the westy are going to run me $390, so the closer to that amount the better. If you know of anyone looking, let me know.

Take care,
Dave

Darn, I could have used that wheel. Found a set of 4. Plus any extra would be nice for a teardrop trailer.

I need to take more pictures and update what I've done so far
