Just picked the 240D up from a fellow forum member and am currently heading home. More details to follow

From the photo I can tell that it needs a new A/C compressor, bracket, and hoses ;)

It has a York compressor and it's pre R4 so the block probably isn't tapped for that bracket.

I must have looked at the photo wrong :D
Check the block for me if you would please, as I have always wondered if the early blocks had the holes for the R4 bracket.....Rich

I will also venture to guess, it will need new horse hair pads all around :D

People complain about the york compressors and others say they are built proof......let the debate begin! :P

TheDon 05-31-2014 09:55 PM

I think it has the standoffs for it but not tapped but I'll double check

The passenger side is ok. The drivers side seat spring is shot. Thankfully Dave had a parts car and I scavenged some bits from it. Including a drivers side seat spring.

I need to fix the rear arm rest. It separated from the metal I think I just need to fit it back Ito place.

The interior on this car is ridiculously clean for it's age. the tinted windows helped preserve them. Only issue is a small crack on the dash and the upper door trim is shriveled. The headliner is good but I feel like it's sagging ever so slightly.

Soon as I get the title in my name I'll order a factory cut key and hopefully get into the trunk. Fingers crossed for a trunk triangle. I also hope the hub caps are in it. It currently has buddy hub caps. I've never come across them so that's pretty cool. Dave swapped a wheel on that has a good tire but it has an aluminum wheel and the rest are steel so hopefully I can get the spare out and then swap wheels with him later.

I've got a virtually complete engine 1978 240D engine that is going to the bone yard in the next couple days, if you can think of anything you might need off it I can pull it before it goes. This engine has a York also (I have no idea as to the state or condition of the compressor), the AC hoses are still there, the small oil cooler, a set of adapted pencil plugs, any parts particular to that engine. Got an FSM for it as well, good luck with your project!

I'd honestly take the entire engine of you were closer. I need to get a FSM

Tried to remove the rear seats but the back is stuck even though I removed all of the bolts. The horsehair has dinsintegrated and I need new seatbelts since they are all corroded. The right C pillar has some vinyl pealing but I can glue that. I will need to remove the c pillars but I've never successfully done that

Those wheels do not look like factory bundts. The inner lip looks square-ish compared to the factory ones. They almost look like they could be 15's, but I am sure they are not.

EDIT: BTW, nice interior except for the melted horsehair!

They are bundt hub caps. I've only come across one other set... which I gave to Chad to make into clocks. So I have a spare, with a hole in the center of it.
