New AL117X alternator - Original heat shield won't attach
The new 'upgrade' alternator, 117X, while plug-n-play at the electrical connector, appears to have a different heat shield mounting setup.
The round metal plate that was on the original 55amp alternator doesn't mate to the back of this new alternator. Anyone dealt with this?

I've never seen any cars with the shield still on the car...

Sooo...people that do this upgrade are just ditching the shield??

I'm thinking that ANY alternator on most cars results in the shield getting lost...
