Just wait 10 sec and the foam goes away then add more fuel. Repeat until its all the way to the top. Thats what works for me anyway. It takes a bit of dexterity with the pump not to spill but its not too bad. Last tank 38.1mpg in the 87

The car's mpg will fall within the parameters of the EPA figures the car was built under. I have my '99 E300's window sticker right here to verify your results. Unless the car has been modified in some way?

What figures did you come up with?

He has a chip tune. I don't think he's filled up yet.

Now your truck, that's been tuned, right? SOMETHING of yours must have a TUNE!

Now you won't believe me but none of the mods on my car changed the MPG's significantly.

It has:

85 deg thermostat
3 angle injector nozzles
MAF eliminator circuit
EGR eliminator circuit
7.5mm "Floyd" prototype pump elements

Just for fun, here's the current state of the fuel/mileage. Will full up tomorrow for the return trip.

If the car is being driven as a person not intent on achieving maximum OR minimum mpg would, then, 100% of the time, the car's mpg will fall within the parameters of the EPA figures the car was built under. I have my '99 E300's window sticker right here to verify your results. Unless the car has been modified in some way? Or, unless there's any number of malfunctions/abnormal mechanicals going on with the car during the mpg check time...

Yes, that is remarkable, 5 years ago I drove to Alaska, 10,397 miles round trip, the average was just under 34mpg.

Don't you think the 85C therm would help your mpg cause? What was the reason for ditching the 80C stock therm?

I had hoped it would give good results but I think I may have gotten .5 to 1 MPG out of the mod. Not a waste but not spectacular either.

Yes. Yours is non-turbo, though, so not quite apples-to-apples.

I assume we all have 21.1 gallon fuel tanks and that our gauges are working properly.

If I've told you once, I've told you a million times not to exaggerate.
(Also never say never or always.)

My 1996 E300D's are currently rated 24/32 mpg by the new EPA rating system.

Tire pressure 34, cruise set at 5mph over the posted limit. Hwy 260, 60, 54, I-35

I would not put too much stock in mpg figures over short distances....because then variables such as pump shutoff points, etc. play a larger role. Best to make calculations when you've used almost a full tank of fuel.
