Squeaking noise coming from driver's side rear

I noticed a squeaking/creaking sound when I opened and closed my driver's side door today. I went to the back, and when I bounced the car up and down pushing on the rear side fender (above the wheel well), I could hear the squeak. Anyone have any idea what this could be? A bushing? The coil spring mount? I hope it's nothing major. I just spent a lot of money replacing the rear trailing arm on that same side. Thanks

Alex

Bushing to steel damp?

Greetings,

I have seen the same problem with rubber bushings making contact with metal parts when they are either damp or extremely clean. Found that my best solution was to spray a little litium grease between the bushing rubber and metal contact area and the squeak went away. Is this the type of squeak you are having?

Charles

Hmmm........ you've got me. I haven't really had a chance to investigate the squeaking. I was hoping that this would be a common problem that someone could easily point out. It could quite possibly be the rubber bushings, but my gut tells me that it's not. I was driving with all the windows and the sunroof open and didn't hear it. I don't even think I heard it all today (usually I hear it a bit when I open and close the door). I guess if it went away, maybe it is something rubber that corrected itself when the rubber expanded. If I find or observe anything new, I'll post it. Thanks

I had a similar squeak on my 190 (different rear suspension than your 123). The problem was the outer bushing on the lower control arm. This bushing has a lot of movement and the bushing was very worn. Because the car has multi-link, I chased the squeak for a long time. I finally isolated the squeak, and repaired the problem. Chances are that the squeaky bushing is quite worn, and replacement would be worthwhile.
