OM606. 910 possible delivery valve issue

Hi folks

Having rebuilt the engine with new injectors, head ect the actual running has been poor to lumpy.

At first I thought it may have been the bent altitude sensor but it appears to be No1 injector not receiving fuel.

swapped injectors over, same problem, cracked the injector nut very small amounts spit out and only with 4/5 turns of the nut. Other injectors spit with half turn.

So I have ordered the 33 spline tool to remove the valve seats and replace. btw, during the injector rebuild several of the internal spring were caked in a soft goo, not sure what it was but 90 minutes in ultrasonic failed to budge it.

I am wondering if the valve seats may have the same gunge.

Any other ideas which may cause a lack of fuel to one injector (no bubbles in fuel pipes so plenty of fuel getting through)

Cheers,

IP barrel under the delivery valve

have had a similar problem this week but in the opposite direction. I was replacing the o-rings and crush washers and went to far on the first one (which was #6) and removed the barrel. (The barrel is the part that is under the actual delivery valve and has the piston running through it.) I just jammed it back in and completed the job and the car ran very bad and blew very much black smoke. It turns out that I installed the barrel in the wrong orientation and it was feeding too much fuel. If however it was in another position it would not have delivered any fuel.
When the barrel went in it was hard to push in and when I removed it the second time it was hard to remove because the alignment pin had been forced into the block of the pump. The solution was either to remove the side plate off the pump and punch the pin back into position (could have caused a bigger problem) or mark with a felt tip marker on top of the barrel and align the mark and therefore the grove on the side at 90 degrees facing the fender.

Now the car runs stronger and faster than ever; many seconds faster 0-60 time than last week even.

I have done the exact same thing on my 86 190d and I got to know if this fix has worked for you long term? I'm very hesitant to open the IP side plate, and try pushing the pin back out, so if just marking it and visually aligning the groove with the car's fender worked, did it stay for you? Can that barrel move around? Any info would be great.
