How difficult is the engine mount?

I was changing rubber motor mounts and the driver's side center bolt that connects the motor mount to the engine carrier won't thread in. I expect that I need new threads. I have been procrastinating on pulling it apart because it looks difficult to access the 4 nuts holding the bracket to the engine.

I have a parts car in case the part can't be repaired but that means doing the job twice. Any encouragement? I'll be working on the ground but do have air.

IIRC, the left side is pretty easy. You can get the top hex nut with an extension and the other side with a socket from the bottom. On the right side, I remember one was a bit of a PITA. I think I used two extensions and a swivel socket to access one of them and the other from the bottom. If you don't have sockets, I would highly recommend using them over the key sets. I did do it once with the keys but it was a royal nightmare as you have to do them blind and you basically get 1/2 turn and then have to figure out how to reconnect the key while straining your back.

It isn't the rubber mounts that I'm worried about. I've changed them.

The bracket from the engine to the body is held to the engine by 4 nuts and they look like trouble to reach when the oil cooler lines are in place.

I don't want to however, the center hole is stripped or if not stripped, the threads are at least buggered to the point where the bolt won't go back in correctly. I want it in my hand when I do the repair. A tap won't go in correctly with the frame interfering.

Sounds like the narrative of my life.... I go to fix one thing... two other things need to be fixed to get to that fix....and two tools will need to be cleaned and fixed due to Dirt Daubers filling every hole... what should be a 20 minute fix is ten hours of work.

I always align the center bolt before attempting to install the outer bolts... are you SURE the center threads are messed up?

I've got several SD's I'm parting out if you need mount arms...

I'll loosen the outer bolts & see what happens. I'd like to move on to something else. There is plenty and winter is coming.

Both went in and tightened. Procrastination keeps the elephants away also. It must work because there aren't any around here.
