w210 towing

I have a 1997 e300d (non-turbo) sedan with 170,000 miles. I want to tow a 600 lb quad plus I figure a 200 lb trailer. I know people how towed with this model before but I am unsure it will be safe for the transmission. any thoughts?

The 722.6 trans was used in the E55's of the same era with a lot more torque and HP output than your 606.912.

Of bigger concern would be the type of hitch used.

I have a Curt hitch on my car and I plan on towing my quad once I get a proper trailer. 800# is class 1 so I can't imagine it being a problem.

W210 Trailer Hitch

I have comfortably towed 1500 lbs hundreds of miles. Drive in a manner that is comfortable for the car and the driver.

The weight you want to tow isn't a problem. That trans is used in S class barges and Sprinters ( big vans )

ok so bear with me im a noobie when it comes to this stuff but the Curtis hitch attaches to the sheet metal, correct? i would rather have something that doesn't do that, i would prefer exactly what you did just to be safe.
