Center Exhaust Hanger
Hello,
Upon examination of the exhaust system, I discovered it is held up using Heavy duty zip ties. They have been working so far, however new hangers will be on the way. My question is what is the part number(s) for the center hanger? It is approximately in the middle of the car, behind the transmission hanger forward the muffler, and after the s bend. I searched the EPC on mbpartsworld however i was unable to find a diagram for 1980. Thank you, Alexander

Thank you for those.
Unfortunately, the mbpartsworld only displays the 81 and up model. As pictured there are catalytic converters in that image, I have a non-catalytic converter car. On mbpartsworld were the catalytic converter is on the top exhaust system is approximately where this center hanger would be.

I don't think you have a catalytic converter, you may only have one "center muffler". Item #71 in the link should work.
You may have an altered set up, still item #71 should work.

I believe what you are seeing there is the two variations of w126 300sd exhaust systems. Some years came with the two "kidney" resonators and some came with a single resonator.
The w116 also had a resonator. It may be that, because the w116 300sd was only produced for three years, and for the North American market, Mercedes has stopped stocking some of the exact-fit exhaust components for that model. Or it could be an error in what is being displayed. Either way, if you are looking for something that doesn't show up as you expect, it's best to call the dealer as even if Mercedes no longer has it in warehouse stock, the dealer parts system can "see" if another dealer has it somewhere. They can then try to get it for you.... if they wish to (YMMV with dealer parts guys and older cars).
