$440 for a single 5 X 7 rectangular bulb!

"$300 per on Amazon" didn't notice that the first time, I just did a quick Google.

I quickly Googled "69822 – NH LED 200 RECT " and a number of sellers had them in the $400-440 range! I'd have to sell a car to buy a couple bulbs! But, if you look at the link posted and scroll down the page and look at the diagram that is supposed to show what light ends up where on the road bed those 5X7 rectangulars put some serious light out up front!

For that kind of cash you'd be better off retrofitting in a set of high end Bixenon projectors. Those LEDs sure look sharp though.

i absolutely hate people that put hid's in halogen reflectors and don't care about the others on the road. i replaced my yellow fogs in my w123 with 5 1/4" hella "ecodes" and installed 55w hid's in those so i could use them as work lights or when in south texas at night. anyways, i have bosch "e spec" 7" H4 reflectors for my headlights with good osram 55/ 60w bulbs. when it came down to being able to see FAR away for deer and just the road, the halogen's in good reflectors blew the overpowered hid's out of the water. there was so much glare and unfocused light going into the trees and right in front of the car, i couldn't focus far ahead as well. it's all about the optics! anyways, enough rambling of my opinions. i really like the LED concept! here is another great option for w123 owners: Morimoto Sealed7 Round Headlights

Back around 2005 or 2006 when I worked for an automotive testing facility (NDA long since expired) we piggybacked a test of some 7" round LED headlights onto another test. I was pretty impressed with the prototypes and about a year later I was serving in Iraq with the Navy and contacted the manufacturer to see if we could buy some production lights to improve the lighting on some trucks we were running. None were available at the time. Several years later I got tired of replacing sealed beams on my W123 and looked into LED replacements. They were available, but with the prices involved, I decided to go with a halogen retrofit for good light at a much lower price.

my room mate replaced the headlights in his 2008 Jeep Wrangler with a set of LED headlamps. They work very well.

Candlepowerforums has a decent automotive section, I lurk there occasionally.

I've had good service from my Hella E-Codes.

I spent ~$300 on my SureFire A2 Aviator, led upgrade, batteries, and charger back in the day. So not that bad actually.

If you were going to build it yourself it would be like $150. The trouble is taking the time to make sure the beam pattern fits in with SAE guidelines(what the DOT references). So tack on another $100 for a lightmeter and then the time to make it work.

I did the E-Code route and replaced my fogs with high/lows and can attest to the great light output they have.

But when I was talking about the retrofit, I meant correct lenses with no fluting. That way you get good crisp cut off and awesome light out put. It would be the same as factory lights on the new cars.
