300D purchased for less than $1000

I remember reading about a "club" on here where if you purchased your 300TDT for less than $1000 (including registration), you were granted membership. Does this also include a 300D?

I managed to purchase this 87 300D for $700 plus the cost of a trailer, gas and a lost night of sleep.

Just wondering... :-)

Unfortunatly not. It has to be a covered wagon. No substitutes accepted. So you do not get the big bucks to fix it up that goes with membership.

The last statement of course is untrue. If it were you could not find a wagon anywhere knowing the members and myself as I do.

There are rot free examples out there as well as rust buckets and many between the two. These cars are really old now and these variations are to be expected.

Certain southern regions produce good totally rot free examples. The sun and time may have deteriorated the upholstery and rubber more though. Like it or not these cars are approaching other cars ages that are already collector items.

ANY brand, with a couple of notable exceptions like yugo, vega ect, is as good as how it is maintained.

Often even a poorly maintained car can be brought back, dollars and time dependent.

I haven't seen a spot of rust on my two 300D's in Northern California, but that is typical here. Visit LA and you will still see 1970's Jap mini-trucks w/ solid bodies. Those rusted out in 5 yrs in the East. I don't know why Easterners spend months fixing rust (usually not perfectly) when they could take a SoCal vacation and drive back a used car that is a much easier starting point. So it takes 3 days to drive, that saves months of labor and aggravation.

This girl is a California car. Zero rust! :-)

Gonna need new tires. Need to flush the green coolant. Need to change the transmission filter and fluid. Need to change the screw on fuel filter.

Already change the rear seats with a pristine set from the Pick a Part. Fronts are on the agenda!

Will post pictures once I download them from the camera. :-)

Thanks for feeding my addiction!
