Is there a choice? I presumed they were all metal.

I have put the INA clutched pulley on my om603. I have a 150a alternator, 10PA17C compressor, and smaller 603.97 water pump pulley and noticed a good bit of vibration at idle before. Quite noticeable when you let off the accelerator and the rpms dropped before the ELR caught it and brought it back up. my tensioner shock would get very hot and burn up too but most importantly, taking the shock and stress off the timing cover was a huge deal to me! I have also installed this on my friends 350sdl with the same 150a alternator because he burnt up a belt shock in 15k from idling a lot. These pulleys have taken care of our problems and are a must have with the 150a alt!

Just an FYI on the belt change on the OM606 - use the wheel brace tool provided in the boot, use the handle of that to go into the top of the tensioner (there is a hole), loosen the bolt and remove and then use the wheel tool to gently let the tension down.

I got one on ebay for my 150a alternator swap. Its a VW pulley, perfect fit on the OM606 and 603. Search ebay for INA 022903119c, $28. You will also need a 33 spline socket to install the pulley, about $8 on ebay. Well worth the investment even if you keep your stock alternator. The belt never chirps and completely eliminated noise and vibration from the tensioner even though I have a much larger alternator from an R230 SL500 now.

Thumbs up Upgraded Clutched pulley

I had the new INA clutched pulley installed on my alternator and replaced my idler pulley which was original at same time. The idler puller was INA also and looked original.....with 204k miles on it, it still looked good but had a small amount of play and these are failure points that can leave you on the side of the road.

I'm happy to report, the clutched pulley on the alternator did quiet the belt system down quite a bit. I'm hoping the smoother running will result in less wear on belt tensioning system. I worthwhile upgrade in my opinion.

^^Very nice.^^

Since putting the OAP pulley on the om603 and om606 both have been dead smooth. I bet the belt drive would work perfectly even without the damper. I've also added the same pulley to the 90a alternator I also installed one on my 93 190e 2.3 and same result. Quiet and smoot belt drive.

Photos attached of the INA pulley I purchased a while ago, which has slightly different numbers on it than the one pictured earlier in this thread. Also attached the EPC screen shot showing the part number has been superceded twice, the latest / current part number is: 602-150-00-60

And, you can get the Klann tool needed for this pulley off eBay for $25 delivered:

I bought the INA clutched pulley and the tool last fall, but haven't yet made the time to install it. Planning to make a before / after video for youtube, will share the link once it is up.

I threw the INA pulley on mine last month and it makes a considerable difference in noise from the belt. I have a good tensioner and a new belt, and I would get a "woooooo" noise when the A/C ran at specific RPM's. Since adding the clutched pulley all the belt noise went away. At some point I'll upgrade to a heavier duty alternator and move the clutched pulley over with it.
