Will the Cruise Speed Sensor Work for Aftermarket Cruise??

Got a question which I have a feeling will be a hard one but never know???

My euro didn't come with a cruise control, I would love to pull one from a junk 300 and install it but that will be pricey. I do have an aftermarket kit from the 80's which would also do the job...

Now this one wants you to install the speed sensor on the drive shaft. Have to wire on magnets and mount the sensor on the tunnel. I don't see this holding up to well...

Now I know the factory cruise used a speed sensor on the back of the speedometer, and I do have an extra.

Does anyone know if that would work in place of the drive shaft magnets?

I was thinking of comparing the resistance between the two...but not positive if that would give me the answer....
