There is a drop in heat and some loss in power. Installing the "test" pipe you still have the exhaust routed the same way. The exhaust flow would speed up not having the restrictions of the trap. The best thing to do on the 85, is change it over like an 83 is. and also install a set of 78/79 300SD manifolds. Charlie sent from my pos computer
