Really could use y'alls help, please!
So, early this week hit rock bottom hard and really made me reconsider everything, plus trying to get over being overwhelmed and shutting down. As such, been making time to do more fun stuff, like working on the Mercedes.
Almost got the condenser in, but need some pictures and/or hardware. Need it for the bottom mounting of the condenser and the center plastic bumper trim mounting. After three years and poor long term memory, really need y'alls help, please! ![]() During this, need to find a hose shop and have the hoses made up. Then once condenser mounted and the hoses in, can get my friend to vacuum and charge. Done a top off before, so don't need full help, except setting the amount/pressures. Can't wait to have A/C for the dog! ![]() Thank y'all in advance! ![]()

Glad to hear you are feeling better. Are you talking about the 79 or 85?

![]() Oops, keep forgetting about the '79, since basically well picked caucus (driveline still needs to come out and have the back end removed, but another topic another time). This is for the '85. Good catch, as entirely different, so couldn't compare to the '79.

I don't know much of whats been going on for you, but I can relate to hitting rock bottom.
I get badly depressed every winter, thankfully I've been working on a 4 speed swap into my grey car so thats been keeping me occupied a bit. These old cars are great therapy, and everyone wonders why I want to work on my cars while the in-laws visit ![]() being the 85 it should be a 123 with an om617 right? would be the same as my 82? I'll run out and grab pics for you, its up in the air waiting for a pilot bearing before I can assemble any further anyway.

No clue on the MBZ stuff, but good luck on everything else. Remember that just like a wave crests and then falls, the wave also troughs and then heads right back up. Things generally fall back in place just as fast as they fell apart.

Jarod, sorry wasn't clear, but glad and thankful as can see how the trim gets mounted.
I am looking for what hardware goes in the holes pictured. Classic Volkswagen tells you, but Mercedes doesn't. (Bolded only so can be seen by others at a glance.) Quote:

![]() No flush because nothing went wrong, correct? Will have all the oil removed so not slugging the compressor. Am going to put a new drier in. Seems weird that you have to expose to put the switch in, but better than open for over an hour. So, turns out the hoses will work, so getting all in place, then quickly put in the drier for the least exposure to moisture.

Adriel, How do you propose to ' remove all the oil ' without flushing the system ?
You are doing lots of work and investing perfectly good money. You need to read and study the AC thread listed in my Signature.

when you say nothing went wrong, so no need to flush... what do you mean?
are you opening the system ONLY to install the pressure switch? (the TEMP switch does not need the system opened to change) the issue is, when you recover the refrigerant to change the switch, you will be removing some oil. how much, nobody knows... and the oil charge is CRITICAL on this system, as the compressor has no sump... ONLY CIRCULATING OIL LUBRICATES THE COMPRESSOR!!! so it's gotta be right. if you recover refrigerant, and put it ALL BACK, FROM THE RECOVERY BOTTLE... then you are fine. if you recover, then recharge from fresh cans of refrigerant... you are not putting the correct amount of oil back in. so, flushing EVERY LINE, AND COIL then adding the correct amount of oil back in... is the best option.

![]() Consider this: in building design and construction, the architect/designer designs it and the construction team builds it. The architect trusts the craftsmen to do do their craft and doesn't tell them every little detail, down to where each nail is placed. However, we designers should know some so we can communicate. I have a good friend that has done A/C systems for over 40 years, I.I.R.C./I.I.K.C. I know enough to communicate, but would just tell him the objectives and let him do whats needed. However, glad to know now that will be more involved, so will schedule two days back to back, rather than squeeze into a half day. That probably explains why so far communicating didn't have time last weekend. This A/C business is really fighting me. Got the heater valve wires repaired, meter was showing odd readings, we ignored, but apparently correct as the heat is still stuck on. So, this morning told my friend that did the repair and he had a great idea of jumping the wires. Trick is getting under there and tracing to the end. Will need to do anyway when put new wires in. This is where wish there was a spare late model W123 to at least look at. Be nice to even have the wires, but then that mean one ended life, and with so super rare, that be a tragedy.

![]() ![]() The condenser got hit over two years ago in an accident. A.A.A. Insurance and their approved shop refused to refused to fix the fan or the condenser; took a bit to convince to replace the leaking water pump. The leak was slow, B.T.W.. Did I show the picture of the condenser? Since a small leak, no refrigerant was added. Worst, the system would need a few puffs of R134a every year and they don't come without oil. Since been done since the conversion years ago, realized the compressor has high risk that it is slugging. Oil level has to be correct either way, as both have detrimental affects. Having trouble finding the information directly on flushing, can you please briefly explain?

You can buy a can of pressurized flushing liquid. Undo all the fittings you can, flush the lines out really well with the can, and let the lines dry a little bit. Replace the O-rings and seals that you disturbed, and lubricate them with either refrigerant oil that you've chosen, or Nylog. Once you have the lines and coils flushed and the system is clean and empty, you can add the correct amount of oil without having to guess how much is left in the lines.
Your system has been converted to R-134a, correct? If so, you would need to use ester oil or PAG oil. Ester is preferred in systems that were converted from R12. It is miscible with small amounts of mineral oil that may be left. It's soluable in both R12 and R-134a.
