Post OM602 Help remove camshaft timing gear

Hello All,

I am new to this forum.
There is a lot of knowledge and great information here!

I am in the process of changing the hydraulic lifters.
I need to remove the camshaft timing gear.
It is an odd shape/profile cast, and hard to get to with the pullers that I have.

I am tempted to remove the cam with the sprocket attached, but worry that a lifter may rotate the entire assembly and cause unnecessary grief.

There are no specific tools/process described in the manual for this.

I hope someone can chime in on how to make this possible.

Alex.
