yes sorry. it is tight.
I am thinking it is something in the engine bay. Although the mounts are brand new... they do seem a bit low. I have never replaced the engine shocks (but i am not sure if that would cause my problem). The car does not rattle as much as it does vibrate. You can feel it in the pedal a lot and in the floor some and in the steering wheel a decent amount. The other weird part of this is the idle. Fast idle lots of vibration, 2/3 idle much less noise and less vibration, and low idle engine shakes more vibration. |

Is the large nut at the rear of the front shaft tight? It has to be snug and if it is not snug will allow vibration to begin on the drive line, but that would be a speed and usually with a light load, like cruising along at about 40 to 50mph. But you are speaking about an idling situation so that would not be the cause. Does your vibration decrease when the engine is well warmed up?

It decreases ever so slightly. I have to make the idle faster as the engine warms up. On a. Cold engine the idle has to be a little faster and on a warm engine the idle has to be a bit slower.

So lets go back to before this thread..... you had NONE of this stuff before you did that work to the car ... right ? This is ALL after what was done .... and was immediate after putting all the parts together ?

In reading through the thread, the tone of the OP's statements, unfortunately, conveys a lot of uncertainty. When asked specifically about indexing of the flywheel/crank, the question has gone unanswered. To my mind, "pretty sure" is not high on the confidence scale. |

This may be old school but in days past it was always recommended that the pressure plate and the clutch disc be replaced as a balanced set.

but since this is happening with the clutch depressed... not likely the cause of the present complaint...

i bought a sachs clutch disc and plate. I did not do anything beyond installing them, aligning, and making sure the flywheel was put back in it's original aligned position. I am going to do a valve adjustment, diesel purge, and replace the fuel filters next week (it's been ~10k miles).

I suggest you do those one thing at a time and test each time... so you will know in the future...and can share with the forum what was causing this situation...

an update. i have noticed that i now have my clutch broken in a bit (~400 miles) and there is less vibration and shaking during acceleration. Still not perfect but better. I just sent my spedo and cruise control amplifier in for repair (thanks JamesDean) and when those get back i will do purge, vavle adjust, filter change, and oil change.
