i replaced the schraeder valves and threw nitrogen into the system and gas was rushing out at the compressor. It looks like the seals i bought are not fitting correctly on the back of the compressor. I bought this compressor.

AC Compressor w Clutch 68 93 Buick Chevrolet GMC Mercedes Benz Oldsmobile 58228 | eBay

and i am wondering what are the correct seals for this thing. It is very obvious gas is leaking at the compressor seals... i guess i will have to wait and see if there are more leaks after i plug this one.

You guys miss my point. After a few minutes, the high and low sides will be at the same pressure. The fact that the 2 gages display different pressures thus means that one or both gages are not exact. Indeed, no sensor reading is ever exact, one must know the "uncertainty". It is silly to use those high-pressure gages to try to infer the true vacuum measurement. They only put the vacuum increments on the gage faces because it was free.

would these fit? I am not sure which one would go on the part of the hose that sticks out and which one would go with the part of the hose that is flat.

Do you have a vernier caliper? Your best best is to take measurements of everything (washers, depth of ports on compressor, protrusion of manifold and pick the correct washers rather than trial and error.

I had a post with pics of a few different R4 compressors I had which I took apart to take pics of the ports, washers and manifold. Do a search and see if you can find it. I don't have time to look now.

No, I found it, I posted the pics in #42 in this thread Question for the R4 compressor experts

The washers are laying next to the respective ports of the compressor after removal and pic taken. I think there were some discussions (in thread link you posted) on different color washers for the stepped ports.

car is running cold now. All is well. I used the yellow and green seal and everything seems to be going well so far. The only kind of weird thing... intermittently i will hear a whooshing noise from the fan area for about 5 seconds or so and then it will turn off... and then on again and off. The fan is consistently blowing fine. I am wondering if this is something with the expansions valve and adding and removing refrigerant to the evap?

There are several posts about the R4 seal washers. But, since you haven't found them, I post below the local notes I filed away (have posted before). I don't see a "GM Pad" in your photo that looks like my R4's (yellow & green washers). But, even R4's sold for our M-B have varying pad designs, as did GM over the years, so follow funola's suggestion.

Suction port:
Four Seasons 24358, yellow
NAPA PN 407279
AutoACRepairs PN GA4508, $3
GM PN 2724888
1.32" OD (33.2 mm) x 0.12" th (3 mm), ~0.585 " ID
compressor hole recessed ~0.08"

HP outlet port:
Four Seasons 24357, green
NAPA PN 407278
AutoACRepairs PN GA4506, $3
GM PN 2724890
1.18" OD (29.9 mm) x 0.216" th (5.5 mm), 0.61" ID
compressor hole recessed ~0.16"

Included in some kits, but not used:
Four Seasons 24356, red
AutoACRepairs PN GA4507
GM PN 2724889
1.18" OD (29.9 mm) x 0.15" th (3.8 mm), 0.61" ID

3-seal kit (red, grn, & yell washers, w/ inserts, use only grn & yell):
Four Seasons 24342
AC Delco PN 15-20058
AutoACRepairs GA 4504-KT, $9
GM PN 2724887
O'Reilly's PN 24342 $15

Red & grn washers only:
CompressorWorks PN 620230

Oil:
Total system 8 oz
Makeup for:
drier 0.3 oz
evaporator 1.4 oz
condenser 0.7 oz
used compressor 2.4 oz
new compressor 6 oz
