Reduced OM617 blowby: easy

I once I heard a MB mechanic say if you keep the engine oil above the full mark on the dip stick they seem to "blow" less oil. He was referrring to an nearly worn out 240D.

Lo and behold: Annoyed by paper air filters fouled by oil recently I've been keeping my OM617 turbo at least one quart and as much as two quarts above the full mark on the dipsitick , maybe 3/4 in. above, ... suddenly .... the interior of the air cleaner can is not getting oily and fouling the air filter element like it used to. Not nearly as much.

Im guessing that if this does pan out as real over time ... the cylinder walls could be getting much more lubrication from splash and that oilier picture could obstruct / seal against passage of combustion gasses ... blow by ... producing less oil vapor mess.
