W116 300SD Turbo Drain Tube poor fitment
While I had my intake/exhaust/turbo assembly removed from my W116 80 300SD I thought I would replace the gasket, grommet and O-rings on the upper and lower drain tube.
As I put it back together you can see from the picture that I can't seem to get them to fit correctly. The intake/exhaust/turbo assembly is bolted in place as is the upper drain tube. The lower drain tube is as low as I can get it. At one point I took some parts from a W123 but I assume that they should be the same as my car. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks, Paul |

It appears to me that the top tube may be bent which is causing the lower tube to sit at an angle. There should be enough clearance that the lower tube needs to be raised slightly to seat the lower o-ring before the outer grommet is slid down and seated.
The only way I can think of to bend/distort the top tube is if someone was having trouble with removal and applied excessive force.
