What now ?

TIA,
The BE754 doesn't use a code. This model has to be taken to a dealer or sent to Becker to be unlocked using a special tool. This model will lock if the internal battery dies or for security/anti-theft.

The BE754 is very inconvenient for this reason. Even more so today since few dealers have the unlock tool. I suspect the code radios that came later were a response to the problems caused by the BE754 system.

If yours doesn't work it's either locked or broken and there isn't any free/cheap solution.

FYI, you can avoid security locking an otherwise functional BE754 or BE780 by NOT connecting the security connector when reinstalling the radio.

The BE1480 will require a code any time power is lost.

Post Update

O.K. ;

I applied power and left it sit "off" for over a week, no change .

So I turned it "on" and in three days (IIRC) it began to say "CODE" so I entered the code # and it blinked "wait" for five or ten minutes then went back to "code" .

I tried it again and once it blinked "code" for a few moments then went back to "code" .

? Am I supposed to press another button after entering the code # ? .

TIA,

You don't need to press any additional buttons. If the code is correct and the radio is working properly the radio will begin to play after the last digit of the code is entered. If you enter the wrong code you'll get an increasing "wait" period before "code" is displayed again.

Post the serial number again. You may have the wrong code. If not you likely have bad caps or a corrupted eeprom.
