Von, did you uses a spring compressor to remove the subframe, or can you just support the differential and release the shocks or SLS struts at the the top and disconnect and lower things as you go?

Awesome cars in your fleet, Von. Those BBS rims look fantastic on the wagon and CD. If you ever are looking to sell the CD give a forum member the first crack!

Thanks for the kind words, If I ever decide to sell I will post it here for sale. But I don't see it happening in the near future, it is just too much fun to drive!

On the back I don't use the spring compressor when removing the whole subframe. I just pull all the mounts and lower it with a jack that supports the whole thing. Once lowered a bit the springs can be pulled right out. It is the front springs that you need the compressor for sure. I pull the shocks or SLS struts before lowering the subframe.

As much as I hate seeing you doing this swap, I am very glad you are putting the time in doing these rust repairs on the body.

Replaced the fuel, brake and SLS lines going to the rear, and repainted the rear subframe after removing any surface rust. Put the motor in yesterday, and plan on getting everything hooked up today. Hope to be able to start it by the weekend!

The motor I put into the coupe came out of a 81' wagon, which only had 84k miles on it when I parted it out. I wish the motor in my 85' wagon ran as smooth as this one does!

Well it runs and drives now! The 5 speed works quite well with the turbo diesel motor, as there is plenty of pickup with it. I'm glad I kept the 3.58/1 rearend in it, as it cruses nice in forth gear for around town, and fifth is fine for the highway.

Congratulations! That'll make you a nice car! The 300 will pull a 307 gear alright at least it was fine here in Indiana. With a five speed and 307 if driven at moderate speeds we got a couple of tanks at 40 mpg with our little 82 300CD with five manual.

Good luck to you!

Here is one for you! I have a lot of photos of my restoration of the wagon, but I don't want to clog up this thread with too many photos of my wagon.
