breather hose leaking oil

hi, my breather hose is leaking oil,

i saw some old threads on here with broken links, so, i was wondering if someone could clarify...

is there a genuine mercedes single piece?
why was it 3 pieces to begin with if the single piece is claimed to be better?

anyone using this one from mercedes source?
.com/store/meyle-turbo-diesel-breather-hose-upgrade

it seems i could just change the elbow and clamps for a few bucks, but would do the single piece if it is in fact an improvement.

thanks!

I have used the single-piece hose on an '82 300D for years. I recommend it.

At this late date, I am not sure who manufactured the hose or from whom I bought it.

There is a corresponding genuine MB part, however. P/n 6170180182.

aha, i guess it didn't show up in my search because "We can't confirm that this part will fit your vehicle: 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D Sedan"

$50 for the genuine mercedes one is steep compared to the meyle!

When it comes to engines, I think the W116 and late W123 300D have a lot in common.

Your bio suggests the question concerns a 1985 federal 300D. Those with a 1985 CA need a totally different breather hose and it doesn't look like the one in the photo in the P-P link. On one of my 300D's, I used a silicone elbow at the valve cover, to hopefully last longer than the M-B rubber part. That was from an after-market motorcycle coolant hose kit I got cheap.
