euro headlight questions

I was installing a set of euro headlights today on a gen 1 W126 and noticed that the vacuum pods within the headlight allowed the bulb mount to move a significant amount. having no interest in rigging a vacuum control is there a way to solidly fix this assembly? and which position is optimal?
