I found a set of w201 burl trim and an LKQ yard for dirt cheap. The problem is that someone destroyed the shift bezel trying to remove the window switch. Also, part of the ashtray trim was missing.

This thread is my attempt to recreate the missing pieces.

I have not yet refinished the ashtray but I did finish the shift bezel today.

1. A before photo.
2. Used a razor to strip all finish and veneer.
3. Sand and clean.
4. Glue and clamp new veneer. (No pic )
5. Recut holes (No pic )
6. Apply epoxy resin.
7. Clean up edges with Dremel/black paint pen.

I also reattached shift boot anchor and repaired the tabs where the switched clip in.

The finished product is not perfect. There are small air bubbles in the epoxy and the color is noticably darker.
