That's the trick though, isn't it.

I love the 70s early 80s xj6/12 body style but I've yet to meet someone who wasn't constantly ripping the thing apart.

Mercedes put the OM616 into the Unimog 421's, not much speed out of them, but lots of grunt work could be done.

These engines are ultra reliable if treated well. As with any car, you need to know how to handle a few quirks, like keeping your eye on the temp gauge and not shutting down immediately following a fast run. V12's are always special cars, and the V12 Jags are going to be worth nurturing in the long run. An XJ or XJS is not the proper receptacle in which to dispose of a stinkin' 617.
