Does the speedometer cable need greasing?

I'm going to replace my dash lights with new LED bulbs. While I have the instrument cluster out, I'm wondering if I should lube the speedometer cable, or will that cause more trouble than it's worth????

If you have the cluster out it is no trouble. Little squirt of gun oil down the inner cable and a small dab of light grease on the upper bearing surface will do fine.

Turns out I don't have to do that after all!

I just saw this video that says you don't have to take the dash cluster out to change the speedometer cable so no sense in me doing anything from the dash while I'm there.
