My Car Vandalized

The picture speaks for itself. The outer ring of the Mercedes logo had come off and someone decided to turn it into a peace symbol.

Odd area for it to happen. The Day Care my Wife works for is in the back lot of a Church (the parking lot on that end is fenced) and across the other side of the Parking lot is a Police Academy.

So someone had to walk into the parking lot from the side walk in order to deface my Car.

The emblem is not the issue. I don't know if you can see it in the photo but the area where the peace symbol paint has flaked off is noticeably darker the surrounding paint.

I don't know about this but is there some sort of Nail Polish Pen that Teens use. Because it looks like Nail Polish.

I am expecting that after a few Months the rest of the vandalized area will flake of or be easy to get off but I am expecting the paint under it to be darker.

Anyway what was far worse is that in the last 6 years the Car had been kit X2 in parking lots with no witnesses and my Wife was driving the Car and was side swiped (hit an run) by what was apparently a New VW.
She got a perfect picture of the Rear of the Car but the car was so new it did not have a License Plate. Just that paper dealers insert where the Plate would go and the little paper on the rear Window that could not be read in the Photo.

About the only thing you can do at times. Is to say to yourself and comprehend. It could always be worse. It satisfies nothing but it is also true.

For example we could trade problems.

I had a major encroachment occur in the last week. On a property. It will be hard to get it straightened out. Plus have two supreme court cases coming up. Here in Canada. At best I can only recover a third of our legal costs. You can never be certain of prevailing either. Even when it looks obvious.

When you are in legal disputes where the opposition is not paying their legal bills directly as individuals. There is less willingness for them to settle out of court. In my mind nobody really wins. You just reduce your losses at best.

Looks like a paint pen, when dry it probably can be scraped off.

Apparently in the future everyone is going to be wearing a Body Camera and all Buildings and Vehicles will have Cameras. The Hoodies that people wear to avoid their pictures being taking will be banned.

Sorry to see this. The dark paint is just less faded due to being under the original star.

Start with most benign approach and go from there - meguiars #7, then some compounding, then goof off, then some real solvents or paint thinner.

Lousy that someone would be so stupid to think that this was a good idea... or that they were making some kind of. Apoint that anyone cared about.

I'd use some way and grease remover to take it off (wear gloves, that stuff is seriously toxic) then as mentioned some rubbing compound should clean her all up nicely.

The brand new cars not having plates thing is thankfully going away. Almost overnight the temp paper plates now sit on the rear.

Had someone in school lock in one of my Amber dogs. Thankfully, I had clear spares which I liked a lot more.

Sometimes strong solvent will just smear things around. Paint pens are brittle when applied thickly so gentle scraping followed by a weak solvent like mineral spirits should clean up the rest.
