Fix A Fire Wall Throttle Linkage Pivot Bushing 84 300D
The for the fix comes from badgator over on peach parts but he did not give details nor pics. I am supplying pictures. Also I picked the PVC part that was available at my Hardware Store and I don't know what badgator used.
"I used a pvc pipe fitting I had in the garage, using the metal bracket outside, ID worked, OD had hex? to hold in center, cut off to fit length, probably cost .69 cents. All it has to do is center the throttle shaft in the bracket and not bind." The exterior rubber part on mine was OK it was the Plastic Ball that was falling apart. So that is the part that is fixed. I like benzworld.org way of posting pictures better so I posted there first. https://www.benzworld.org/threads/fix-a-fire-wall-throttle-linkage-pivot-bushing-84-300d.3066778/

As much as I love McGyvering thngs, is this the same part as a 123-300-00-40-M22 in the Pelican catalog? Is it a new addition? It looks like a redesign from the plastic ball so the engine can still move around a bit and not bind the linkage?

Attached is a pic showing the collar which is part of the plastic ball. I can't remember if it was 2019 or 2018 I replace mine with a new one. I just did this because I was curious to see what badgator did with his and the PVC parts. Also the real thing has been out of stock for several months.

Others seem to have done away with the 2 large holes web thing with the separate 2 black bushings and the Collar is not part of the ball material. Instead there is an insert that has the collar made as part of the insert and the insert goes through the full length of the ball through a single large hole. I have never seen one other then in pictures but I presume the insert is mad of tougher material then the ball. If the whole ball was made of decent material you could eliminate the bushings or insert and would just need an 8 mm hole drilled through.

Have to admit, I saw the thread title "Fix A Fire Wall" and thought of the Fix-A-Flat tire sealant. Was trying to imagine how one could possibly repair a firewall using a spray product from a can.

I just had to deal with this problem. Mine blew apart while detailing and the part is no longer available from MBZ or eBay.
I made something easily with very little ingenuity from ace hardware because of the guy that posted above (thank you!!). It was a PVC cap, grease, zip ties. It was a massive improvement from the prior one, especially after cleaning and lubricating the throttle connectors. As good as it may have worked, I ended up buying one of those custom aftermarket silicone ones from eBay for $50. Super nice. |

That looks really bad. I don’t know if there’s a fix for that on eBay. There’s a guy putting on a new white ball and selling the whole thing for $300. But the black block is still a JY part.
I think scraping the rubber off and casting a new urethane block to the existing metal is in order. Its a lot like making an engine mount. Making some nice 3d printed molds that hold the steel in place before pouring should not be too hard.

I'm thinking of putting 3 or four bolts all the way through the 2 steel plates and through the rubber to hold it in place. Then somehow replacing the ball. I can't imagine why that rubber block is there instead of something steel or even an aluminum block. Can anyone shed light on that?
