98 Mercedes E300TD - fuel problems
Wiith my 98 Mercedes E300TD I have at times low or not much power output - and when eng almost dies it smoking mostly white with a little grayish tinge smoke which indicates unburned fuel - some days it seems to run fine then the other day it did get above 100 degrees and it started iradically acting like it didn't want to go.
With my pocket OBDII blue driver linkked to cell phone I get a SOV fault but have changed out SOV twice now onece with Bosch and lastley MB part - also I have replaced the fuel tank screen or strainer, all rubber and clear fuel lines with MB O-rings along with fuel filter housing and filters with injection pump delivery valve viton seals. At one point another forum member posted "Shutoff Valve problems on my E300" had what seems to be like minded problem and said "Local indy, one step above a shadetree, had a piece of software that would read the codes my scanner would not. His investigation found a "driver error" in the egnine control module. Had the module reprogrammed and presto I had a new care again!" In trying to figure this out - would there be an exhaustive diagnostic scanner for E300s that I can buy without paying an exorbant anount? If it comes down to a 'driver error' where can I get my ECM reprogramed? A 024 545 11 32 And if I buy a the ECU like my part number of A 024 545 11 32 off eBay will that be a plug and play or will I need to get it programed so that my ignition/key will start engine? |

Found the source of my problem for my 98 E300TD - previously had hard starts noting bubbles in injection pump lines so air getting in fuel system so desided to replace all 6 clear fuel lines with new O rings - however hard starts and low prower persited - replaced several parts - fuel temp sensor - stock primer or transfer pump on injection pump itself - crank pos sensor - and I replaced the Shutoff valve (SOV) because it would delay shutdown and trip the P0215 code (SOV malfunction). I now have the same problem again but with two new SOV installed but still slow shutdown with slight rev and it triped SOV code even after I erased it. What resoved this issue was that I had swapped clear fuel line ends of tube #3 with tube #4 ends and visa versa - lines will seem to fit going to incorrect hookup such that the supposed imput was acctually hooked up to the output and visa versa. It is recomended to replace one fuel line at a time to avoid getting them swapped and hooked up backwards - it now runs fantastic!!!
