I have a 1985 300D turbo diesel with 248,000 miles on it. The trip meter has started to not work which in turn is causing the odometer not to work! Is there anyway to disengage the trip meter and just have the odometer working (without removing the instrument cluster)?
Thanks! |

not without removing the cluster
The only way to do anything to fix the problem you describe is to remove the instrument cluster and then take its back off and then fix the problem.
There are lots of posts that describe how to fix the problem, search on "broken odometer" etc. But unless you are willing to open it up, you really can't do to much. later

There is a plastic spur gear between the trip odometer and regular odometer. If you don't care about the use of the trip odometer, you can remove this spur gear and everything will start turning again.
Good luck, |
