2005 e320 cdi can problems
Im trying to replace the “cable shoes” on my w211 2005 e320 cdi, scan tool repeatedly records “Can” system problem codes.
Not knowing exactly where to begin i have purchased the cable Part #: 002-546-79-40-MBZ. But i dont have a diagram to know where these cable shoes are located. Does anyone here have a diagram or can pin point the location of these? Your help will be greatly appreciated! |

I believe a major can bus connector is under the carpet and insulation on the drivers side along the outside edge of the vehicle. It's a pain to get to. There are probably many can bus connectors throughout the vehicle. There are some in the trunk also. I wouldn't trust a generic scan tool on a "Modern" Mercedes.

Quote:
The W211 of this vintage has a couple of CAN busses one for the body, one for the interior and he MOST bus which is a fiber-optic and services the radio, NAV system and other infotainment devices. CAN problems are seldom related to wiring issues as the wiring for CAN systems are pretty simple/straightforward. Most CAN issues are related to modules on the CAN failing and taking down the CAN bus. Not sure what diganostic capabilities the Foxwell tool has for CAN bus issues but most of the aftermarket scan tools for Mercedes are pretty buggy and unreliable after you get away from the purely OBDII related functionality. What are the symptoms?

Hi and thanks for the reply. My symptoms are that i cant start the car with the starter relay in place. Lights come on but glow relay will not fire. So im using a jumper wire to the slots of the relay and everything works but when i turn off car the fan stays on high so im forced to disconnect the battery.
