It’s harder to think about it than to do it.

Ive since got the actual brand and model of dial gauge that MB recommends.

Honestly, it’s not just a matter of knowing what you’re doing. These aren’t travel trailer hubs. The actual movement to get the appropriate range is minuscule, and the range of adjustment between too much and too tight is very small.

When it comes to brake parts, don't assume Bosch=Quality. No idea where they have their stuff made, but this is not their main business. Last time I was buying, I checked reviews and they did not rate well. I did not buy, so take what I say with a pinch of salt

Last time, I bought Zimmerman coated rotors for 300D. They were C$34 each on sale. (about US$25). I believe they are still made in Germany. (I have also used them on our E320). I bought Textar pads to go with them - not always easy to find, but were OE I think.

Footnote: I actually have a new set of Zimmerman front rotors sitting in my garage. Canadian site ottopartswey shipped fronts instead of backs and wanted me to pay for return freight! Last time I buy from them! I bought Brembo locally for the backs. I am not sure where they are made, but they seemed very good. I did read that Brembo now have a plant in China. I tend to stay with well known brands, even if made in Asia in hope that they provide quality control. Cast iron if not properly made can warp. We have no idea about the quality of those no-name brands that are offered dead cheap.
