OM617 Turbo Injector Remanufacturing Websites and Shops

Howdy Everyone,

I was looking to replace the injectors on my 85 300D Turbodiesel. I've been familiar with the injectors for a while, and I understand the common consensus is that they should be replaced with rebuilt ones with Monark nozzles.

I've found a couple of links to what appears to be rebuilt injectors with the correct nozzles. I was wondering if anyone has experince with ordering from either link. I'd like to know for sure they're legit before I drop over $200 (I might be a bit overly-cautious by questioning the Pelican Parts link; I'm literally using their forum right now lol... you get the point though).

Additionally, I was thinking about taking my old injectors to a shop in-hand to get them remanufactured so I don't have to go through the hassle of sending my cores back. I'm currently residing in San Diego, CA. Any advice from anyone in the area that knows a place that has experience rebuilding OM617 specific injectors would be greatly appreciated. Mail in shops/websites are also an option if y'all have any good recommendations (I know ************** (uh oh I mentioned the forbidden website) might remanufacture them, but I haven't heard Kent talk about it for a while).

Appreciate the help!

Any fuel injection shop can rebuild the injectors. When I was a new mechanic and got a job with a fuel injection shop it is the first thing, they teach you to do so they can start making money off of your labor.

I have not followed the issue for long time in 2007 when I became a member there was still some German and perhaps French Bosch injector nozzles. If you look at old threads, you will see me asking about Monark Nozzles and people answering.

Bosch production of nozzles for the turbo diesel went to India and quality control and perhaps even metallurgy were poor. I don't know if they ever got out of that or not.

Anyway, people on this forum turned to Bosio made in Italy and Monark made in Germany Nozzles as the two high end nozzles up there with the German Bosch nozzles. Over time production of those stopped. People on this form turned do Firad nozzles in Italy. I don't know how that turned out.

I posted a thread a day or so ago: Monark Injector Nozzles

This was part of what was said: made for us by Wolfswerke-sachsen ( by same company and same nozzle that was formerly branded as Monark

So, is something for the 617 turbo diesels coming up and is there only one company going to have them? Too soon to tell.

Personally, I am avoiding made in India or China nozzles if that is possible.

Another problem is there is fake at least Bosch nozzles out there. Could there be fake Monark Nozzles? I don't know.

Personally, I have never followed what greazzer is or is not doing to make a comment on that. Another reason is I don't know what country the persons that start threads and/or are posting from.

I've bought nozzles & one fuel governer calibration with these folks.

https://advanceddieselinjection.com/services/

They are down by the Coronado Bay Bridge, , ,

One issue with them: After cleaning, they test returned nozzles and if pressures and spray patterns are within specs, they are sold as 'remanufactured/rebuilt' nozzles, , ,

I bought a "Bacharach?" nozzle tester at a yard sale for I forget, ten bucks from a retired navy vet. (tester labeled 'navy stores')
I had to get a few things "to bring it to life", spent less than $25 & good to go!
At "Ecology" auto wreckers back then, (early '90's) there were LOTS of older diesel MB's, I pulled the nozzles. ← so bad I could see why they were junked!
I took 'em apart and took out the shims. I have ?150? of 'em 'mix&match' to get pressures right.
Incredibly easy to set, just tedious, & cleanliness is next to dogliness!

Local JC is Palomar College in San Marcos.

Check out your local JC's

I agree. send them to greazzer, he has been doing them for a long time,
and is a Forum member. He did a set for me as I remember.
Long time members should know that, if they stay on top of things.

All that is fine. But I never had a need to pay attention to any of that.

In particular I rebuilt my own injectors just as I did when I worked in a fuel injection shop for 4 year or was it 5 years. Hard to remember bac to 1975-1980.

What I did read was your updates on the various nozzle availabilities. And I have not paid much attention to that in the last 2 plus years.

I wish everyone the best.

The injectors you linked in the original post are for Normally Aspirated motor.
Turbo requires these:

I got the ones Pelican sells and put them in back in November. They were working fine when the transmission went.
