Great job! I did not see this thread before now. When I first saw it I expected the most common problem and that is one of the lines at that yellow valve getting knocked off when changing the oil filter.
In all my 123 driving, the only failed vacuum components I've had were the drivers door diaphragm and the fuel tank door diaphragm. All of my other problems have been at oil change time. Yes, this board is the best on the internet. If you find a board this good regarding ANY OTHER BRAND car, I would very much like to know, just so I can visit the board. Have a great day, |

My front passenger door lock mechanism has gone bad too. How much did the replacement cost? I’m not seeing it in FastLane.

make sure it is really the actuator
Test the line itself and the replace the rubber connectors before buying the actuator. The line was cracked at the hinge in mine (cheap repair compared to the $30 for an actuator).
I think that this is the part that you are looking for, but that is just my guess and heavily disclaimed... O4010-44438 is the number, I think it is called vacuum element, probably the first on the list. There is a picture to confirm if you already have ripped the door open.

Thanks. I’m pretty sure it’s the element. I’ve reached over and fiddled with the lock while driving and I can sometimes get the vacuum back for days. So I think I have an intermittent problem in the element. I’ll be sure to check around for the obvious once I take the door panel off though. Thanks again.

My problem was the rubber boot that sits on top of the element. It had a small tear and was leaking. I ended up going to the dealer and paid $31.00.
