I think the dream is dead.

It looks like I may have to scrap the 240D project that I have working on for some time now.
There is just to much rust in to many difficult areas. I also don't have a lot of time to work on it, or space to store it.
Looks like it might have to go.

Is there any specific W123 parts that I should try to get off of it before it get hauled off?

At this point the car is basically a shell. Interior out. Entire drive train out.
Entire rear suspension out.

There is still some new parts on the car that I would be pulling back off. Just wondering about specific stuff that's hard to find that I might want to grab.

Thanks.

Glow plug relay

Ignition steering lock and tumbler with key and ignition switch

Becker radio if equipped

Headlamp/foglight assemblies lenses if nice

Alternator

Shifter console if wood and nice

If you choose not to remove the wiring harness, be sure to snip off EVERY CONNECTOR! Leave yourself a good foot of wire on each one. Then look on fleabay and see what kind of money they fetch! These connectors are getting hard to find when you need to repair stuff.

If you have got the know how, body trim, bumpers and interior nik naks, mirrors, etc. I'd set about looking for one with no rust from the Southwest, or high desert arrid parts of the American West. Maybe a 300 SD or a 300 turbo diesel.
Of course, they're all great car lines from that era. We had 4 of them.

W123, W126 and W124's are getting a rare sight at the JY and prices for used parts on ebay are ricing, making almost every part worth stripping.

IF you buy a decades old Mercedes-Benz, don't buy one that's rusting out. That's a no-win situation.
