Well we got her going this morning by towing. I wore down the battery clearing the high pressure pipes so we tow started her. I got it timed, more or less but not spot on as she smokes a little, black which I think the book said was to advanced any way a friend down the street has a tube which I will use. At least it runs which makes me feel good. Thank you all for the help

Stevo, Do you have a "pull to start" starter switch/fuel shut off like on my 76 240d? If so make sure it is in the run position, eg. pulled half way out. If not you will not get fuel through the pump.

No "pull to start" switch. I got a drip tube and started to time it last night. Had to pull the IP again as it was out of the adjustment range. Now fuel runs from the tube so I think I am close, heading out to the shop now to give her another go. The car actually ran with it that far out ....... Far Out I had just thought if you line up the marks on the IP and the engine timing is at 24 degrees BTDC it will be in the "ball park" (the adjustment range) Seems not so or else I am really screwed up. Hummmm Thanks for the reply
