Question 300D Crawls at Acceleration

Hi There! Badly need help!
I replaced my manual 1977 123 series 240D with 300D engine (617 912), Auto Trans (722.118) and differential off a junkyard. The engine seems OK and starts easily in the mornings and revs up very well. The problem starts when I drive the car. When I try to drive it, it just crawls. The max speed that I get is about 35mph though I can feel the gear shifting. Even when the accelerator pedal is touching the floor board the engine rev is 'not' high at all.

The vacuum pipes are missing from the engine. I can see a black vac pipe going from the vac pump to the brake booster. There is a small plastic valve on top of the valve cover with 3 nozzles on it.

I can see a brown plastic disc type thing on a unit attached to the side of the injector pump with 2 vac pipe nozzles. There is another metal vac valve attached to the injector pump with just 1 nozzle for the vac pipe connection which I think is for shutting the engine off.

Can any one help me with suggestions as to why the car is not picking up speed, and, can can one guide me with schematics for the various vac pipes connections etc.

I am desperate to get the answers. Regards

Hello. I would first check the throttle linkage by initially getting in the car and pressing on the throttle while observing the throttle linkage throw (contort yourself to do this). Then go under the hood and move the throttle linkage and look for anything binding or if the throw is greater than when depressed by the pedal.
Next I would change all the fuel filters and air filters, then I would unscrew the alda, even if it is the non-turbo version, to enrichen the fuel going in. Also, with it running, depress the throttle and check for how fast the engine spools up. You can tell if it is lugging or starved from air, fuel, or something else.
There could be many other things, but try these first.
Good luck, Adam

You probably have a missing bushing in the bracket on the firewall for the pivot rod. This limits throttle travel at the IP to about half the total. Makes the car very slow.....

The three fittings are for

ACC (green plastic line -- you have one up there somewhere)

Door locks (yellow plastic line -- you can just plug the fitting if you don't have power locks)

Tranny shift control and EGR valve (white plastic line).

You need to re-install the tranny shift control or you will eventually bash the spider gear carrier in the rear end from super hard shifts. You need the little metal "box" from the IP or on top of the valve cover that is connected to the throttle linkage (you will probably have it installed anyway unless you took it off).
