Sixto,

I'd like to see the Gurka Diesel gain popularity here (USA). Since it has MB parts and engineering it should be a good vehicle.

Who can afford a MB G-wagon?

Front propellar shaft and chasis, it is an independent front suspension.

For a true 4X4, that exhaust pipe looks like it's waiting to get caught on a rock.

Four years on trails and roads with stones and yet you can see its condition. The 16" wheels standard on the Gurkha make it nearly impossible to hit anything. I downsized to 15" wheels on purpose as average 16" off road tires go for $450 per tire in India.

The thing is that it has to come in as some sort of commercial vehicle because it will never meet passenger car crash safety codes specifically written to keep upstarts out of the market.

Maybe you guys can get together and bring some in as kit cars.

On any given day there are more Gs than W140s in the service center queue at Smythe European (MB dealer) in San Jose, CA. None are mine but they seem to be selling. That Enron CEO had a G. Hard to imagine a CEO has to lock his car when he gets to work but maybe that was during the investigation.

Gurkha, can you please show us the engine compartment, especially the turbo side? I really like the idea of a 4 cyl. turbo diesel. I think an OM 601 would be an excellent candidate for a turbo upgrade, but of course it would require beefing up all the other engine hardware as well.

How about an interior shot too?

Thanks

Check this out http://www.allradwien.at/TechnischeEcke/Gurkha/

The attached pic of the engine is really poor and I will borrow the digital cam and post better pic in the future.

agggggg...... IFS...... that blows. Will take some $$$ to put a moderate LCG lift on it cause of that.

As to the low hanging exhaust... Even with your former 16" rims... that wont make it where a stock Jeep TJ and especially a Rubicon will go with out damage.

The IFS is the best feature of this vehicle and wouldnt trade it for anything. I also have a Nissan Patrol with live axle front and compared to that, the Gurkha is a blessing. Wouldnt worry too much about the exhaust as neither off road mag nor myself have had any issues with it scraping or getting damaged, when it does, there is a factory mod available using flexible tubes.
