I can bend and grind some wrenches (cant weld though) but lets see what price you can come up with. If their good I'm in cause I have two 617's now.

Ill work on it on friday because I know they have some holidays now.

I can MIG/TIG/OxyAcetelene weld, but, I would never bend wrenches you make them weaker. I am worried that you guys might round off your nuts when you are doing the valve adjustment.

Also American metric wrenches arent really 14mm they have a bigger gap, you notice that when you use a metric german wrench, they fit much much tighter.

The other day I was using a 5mm allen from snap on and I felt that I was going to round a Valve cover bolt, so I got out a Stahlwille allen, and I saved the screw because they are so tight fitting.

Keep these things in mind. You may save 75 bucks on the wrong wrenches, but you could screw up your valve stems costing you thousands of dollars instead....

The choice is yours though. If the right tool is readily available, then please use it.

Omega,

BUT, I don't have any trouble adjusting my 300SD valves with regular wrenches so I don't need the bent ones.

The the Hazet wrenches are nice, no doubt about that, I have used then quite a few times but all I am saying is the handles get in the way. I sure wouldn't cut the handles off tho, but when I made my own I did some experimenting and found the job easier with handles not in the way, I,m not trying to sell them

As far as the big wrench its nice too but it doesn't take much imagination to figure out how to hold the top of the valve in the slight chance it needs to be held

Sorry about the crappy quality of the pics. A new camera is on the way when Santa finds it on sale. You can see one of the wrenches has the "mini cheater" inserted.

Those tools are MUCH cheaper from Zelenda. www.zelenda.com

Just go to them with the Hazet part numbers.

I bought a set of all three off the classifieds awhile back for $20... Funny thing was once they showed up, they showed no signs of ever being used. Even if they were $100, the money ive saved over a dealer or shop adjustment is worth the investment of the tools.

Oh, you are the guy that got those wrenches....thats cool.

Well if someone did all the dirty work finding the part numbers and stuff, then you go buy it from someone else that hasnt done their research, that seems kind of stupid. Thats clearly my opinion. I will ask them (zelenda) how much they are anyway.

After the holidays, I will check with samstagsales about a group buy price.

you say it seems stupid, my opinion is that its stupid to pay more.

I simply called Zelenda and asked about the special tools for the MB valve adjustment and they knew exactly what I was talking about. I probably would have bought them, but I got distracted with other problems on the car and just happened to find a set for sale extremely cheap. Good thing too, the clearances were all over the place.

Never heard of samstag until just now, but they seem to be a great supplier.

Just consider yourselves lucky.. this isnt a ducati desmo that requires a $700 shim kit and half a head of pulled hair just to get the job started.

I usually buy from whomever is the nicest to me and offers me a good discount and has great customer service. To me customer service is very important.

I know what you mean about the ducati. What size are the shims? Im working on something where I dont even know the size of the shim. I cant even get them out yet. I am going to have to build some tooling just to take them out. I think they are 33mm OD shims about 3mm thick, but I dont know if they are from a BMW or a volvo. BMW shims are domed, and volvo ones are flat on both sides.

Oh well, it worth a try. When I called I worked for a VW dealer that had an account setup with them, so they might have offered us lower prices.
